Mew

I haven't posted on whats really going on in my music listening right now. It is all about Mew. I have listened to the album a lot, but BUY THE ALBUM, if you listen to the leak, I AM GOING TO. Just couldn't help my self.
Also new feature on this blog, I am going to post a needle drop review that is half ignorant, half sensible. I really agree with him on the cover "art" and Palace Players is not my fav. either, and perhaps the overproducing, but I hope he listens to some of the other tracks, perhaps when it issues. I have grown very tired of this track, specially the beginning that is kinda cool i guess, but eeehh. I think its the guitar and monotony of the drums that I am feed up with.
My faves are Silas, Cartoon and Sometimes, they have a much more interesting instrumentation and a dreamy feel that I like about Mew.
More on this later I hope.
If you like Mew and is danish read the GAFFA review or buy the new soundvenue that has a really interesting article.

Random Recommendations In The Sun

Happy first of May to you all!
Here is what I have noticed lately - or rediscovered, can't really remember it all.
"Because of Ghosts" is a australian post-rock band.
Sample some of this from last.fm.
"Dreaming is Essential", "Canadia" and "No Stars in Tokyo" are all noteworthy. Heavy, dark and serious guitar dominated post-rock.
Camera Obscura: My Maudlin Career. Nice indiepop.
Sunset Rubdown: Idiot heart. Love his voice.

More recommendations, but not from me.
"Pints and Roast pork" - "The PMs favorites"
I love it when Grocers have more sense of humour than the primeminister. Hopefully this is what this one will be known for, and not wars and intolerance like the previous one.

Mimas again

Once again I recommend Mimas.
They have done a cover of "This Town Needs Guns" - "26 is dancier than 4".
I have never gotten into TTNG, but in my opinion Mimas' cover "26 is Danish for 4" is much better.
Nice and slow - and very playful.
I have read about ppl who thought that Worries was too weird and experimental. Not me, but if 26 is sign of Mimas' direction for the future, it looks like it might have a little bit of a clearer expression on their next album/ EP whatever we have in store.
Demo of 26 is Danish for 4 is here
